Would You Pay $50 to Get Man Lessons from Mark Driscoll?

Live near Mason, Ohio?  Attend the Men’s Conference in June at Rivers Crossing Church and you too can get man lessons from Mark Driscoll.

Rivers Crossing is hosting a Men’s Conference featuring Pastor Mark Driscoll, Rivers Crossing Worship, and more!

About this event

There is a desire in all men to be better and do more, but an extraordinary life isn’t found sitting on the sidelines. Men, it’s time to step up and become the man God designed you to be. Hang out with us on Saturday June 12th at Men’s Conference for a day of spiritual renewal, motivating messages from Mark Driscoll and yes, some manly fun. Lunch and dinner are provided with your ticket purchase.

If recent events are any indication, better men who do more will learn how to surveil their enemies and monitor them on social media. Discover the secret to creating a sanctified enemies list. If it is time for you to step up and become the man God designed you to be, you may learn how to live without accountability in your life. If you are a pastor, come and find out how to create a church without elders and remove people from your church without due process.  For $50, maybe you pastors can find out how to get your congregation not to care where their contributions are being spent.

If you aren’t a pastor, maybe you can find out how to get a higher score on your pastor’s Spectrum of Trust!

Being a man means never having to say your sorry. Listening to counsel placed by God in your life is so weak.  When things get hard, just quit. Man, you will learn so much at this conference!

I bet Driscoll will share the secret of his 30 year old Bible version which was published in 2001. This time travel trick could be worth the price of admission.

If you have any questions or comments about these Man Lessons, you can contact the church pastor, Paul Taylor, at his email. He might be able to explain why you should pay $50 to get those lessons from Rev. Driscoll.

  1. Given who’s giving the lessons, make that “Being a Dick Lessons”.

  2. Serious question from this non-Evangelical: What is it about charging admission for an event that explicitly includes worship? It wouldn’t be weird for my (Lutheran) church to charge admission for certain sorts of events. These typically would be musical recitals, but I can imagine charging for a lecture. I can also imagine that if the topic were religious there might be an opening prayer, bringing in a worship element. But where some sort of worship service is part of the billing? Seriously? A free will offering, sure. But not many people are going to toss $50 in the plate.

    1. Conferences of all sizes normally charge a fee to defray expenses including bringing in speakers (although this sounds remote) but an honorarium is customary But this one gives lunch AND dinner for $50! And evangelical conferences always include worship I used to work on the big ACTS 29 annual conference and it required a ton of planning especially logistics of speakers. And costs go up if a remote site is needed. Heck, I’ve never seen a church retreat for either men or women that didn’t charge a fee.

      1. Charging registration fees to offset expenses is understandable. I don’t know about the ACTS 20 conferences, but events devoted to ill-informed masculinity like Driscoll’s are wasteful in social and theological contexts, and likely abusive, as Driscoll’s legacy continues to show.

        1. I was referring to conferences in general and yeah — A Driscoll “how to be a man” conference should be avoided even if one gets fed 2 meals for $50.

Driscoll isn’t much of a man or a father. If he was so offended by a teenage boy sharing a kiss with his teenage daughter he and Grace should have spoken with the boy’s parents. Which would have resulted in Driscoll going off like a psycho. Instead he had “Pastor” Brandon kidnap the kid.

  5. Wow…so, Mark Driscoll is the devil, then? He can’t learn from his mistakes? He can’t repent? He is, in your mind, someone who needs to be hounded like this? Geez, man…get a life. People have free will. Let them figure it out for themselves. What kind of a nutbar does this?

    1. Another charming Driscoll troll to block. Just as rude and unChristlike as the plagiarist himself. Thank God for the blocking feature in Discus!

      1. The frothing-at-the-mouth followers of Driscoll fail to justify his abuse. As their digital footprint continues to show, their gnashing of teeth is all they have to offer the world.

        1. You people lose all your credibility when you use phrases like “frothing at the mouth followers of Driscoll“. I attend there and it is just a church of Christ followers like everywhere else. Nobody is perfect, but seeking to know Him better and appreciating good teaching of the Bible. And thank God, we had a great sermon on Romans today where God says “vengeance is mine”. So I am going to relax and let God take care of all you liars and slanderers.

          1. That’s kind of funny. Driscoll took the same stance toward those who brought allegations at Mars Hill and let’s look at the outcomes. Acts 29 evicted him and his church from their network, saying he needed to leave ministry; his elders brought charges and when investigated, he was found guilty and disqualified from ministry. His church laid off staff and eventually closed. Be careful what you wish for.

          2. He has no evidence, otherwise he would have already provided it. He’s just repeating his earlier pattern when he falsely claimed that Driscoll has elders and then repeatedly failed to provide proof. In place of evidence and truth, all he has are lies and obfuscation, as his own posts illustrate.

          4. Thank you Dr. Throckmorton for again proclaiming the truth. Within all the Mars Hill disfunction, I recall it was believed that the elders for a time were refusing to hold Driscoll accountable when complaints came piling in, until it was later revealed that Driscoll was routing email complaints to himself (so that they never reached the elders) and then sent replies claiming to be from the elders, thereby rendering the elders powerless and unaware.

This is impersonation and false representation–essentially identity theft, yet truth prevailed and light shined upon Driscoll’s darkness. Just as it is today.

          5. I would urge you not to get too invested (emotionally or financially) in this church. Given Driscoll’s history, it will not end well.

            Good luck!

          6. Everyone who goes there is afraid. They can’t talk to me when I’m out on the sidewalk without some pastor scuttling up and dragging them away. This is not a healthy church. This is a cult.

          7. Well, since most of what you say is your own version of reality, I have to say that I actually did come talk to you, as we were parked right by the sidewalk, and we had a civil conversation, and no pastor or anyone did or said anything.

          8. Oh, so you’re the guy who parked his truck on the sidewalk on Wednesday and we had a nice conversation? Good. You can see that I’m a nice person, albeit quite driven and single minded in my purpose. Did you know that after I stopped picketing and walked back to my vehicle, the sign-waving intern followed after me and stood on the church side of 86th St watching me talk to the neighbors? He pretended to be waving his “Honk if you love Jesus” sign, but it was obvious he was spying. Seriously, that’s stalkeriffic behavior and completely uncool. I don’t want to hear the neighbors got harassed just for talking to me.

          9. Well, truth be told, I’m a woman. We talked probably a month ago or so. No truck. But, aren’t you kind of the one stalking? I don’t blame them for keeping their eyes on a protester outside their church.

          10. The neighbors LIKE that I’m there. They are THRILLED that I’m coming out to let all and sundry know about Mark Driscoll. TTC is a bad neighbor–“Real Men” on Wednesday nights is noisy and disturbs people who have to get up early on Thursday mornings. On Sunday morning, people park all over the neighborhood.

          11. No, she is protesting. Stalking would be if she hired private investigators to follow people.

          12. Who is Driscoll accountable to at the church? You said you know, but you have not told us. Lots of tangents but no follow through on the claim you made.

          13. “claims” no follow through on the claimS “Let there be truth” has made.

    2. Put a sock in it, buster.

Sometimes people haven’t got a clue as to what’s happening when they get sucked into that church with the macho pastor who is makes a point of defying masking regulations. Like Driscoll did. Apparently his “church” picked up a lot of new people last year because he decided he didn’t need to follow the COVID-19 masking and distancing rules and there are a lot of DUMB peopke who like that sort of thing. As a result, a COVID outbreak swept through “The Trinity Church” last December, but the TTC cultists will deny it.

I did some checking and it appears you live in Toronto, Canada, you have issues with American politics and you have issues with the COVID rules. Of course you’d like macho Mark Driscoll, in his tight jeans, holding his Bible near his crotch.

Mark has a long history of being a jerk, which you could learn if you did some research. But I’m not gping to help you, as you seem like the perfect sucker for Mark Driscoll’s schemes.

      1. Thank you mirele for shining light onto darkness. And thank you for bringing up Mark Driscoll’s enabling of the COVID outbreak among his congregation. Truth always prevails, no matter how hard Evangelical churches try to deny it.

        1. I go there. And I also attended another church in another state as well who opened last summer with no masks and they have done fine. A few people got sick in a normal sense and that is all. I know of one man who died in April when everything was on lockdown but nobody who got seriously sick at either of the churches. You have been lied to as our health agencies and media made everybody fear that they were equally at risk. Other than the elderly, and risk factors like obesity and diabetes, people were at no more risk than the flu. And there are early treatments that are effective and were suppressed (HCQ and ivermectin for instance). Why would they do that? Listen to doctors who said they have never had that happen before, controlling of their treatments. Please search out truth on your own and do not believe everything you read.

          1. Come up and introduce yourself on the sidewalk so I can yell at you. One of my close friends got COVID early (late February 2020) and she has heart problems as a result. COVID is NOT NOT NOT the flu. It’s worse, it can cause serious problems and even kill young people. As for me, I went to the trouble of getting the vaccine, because I have an elderly parent with multiple comorbidities and I’d like her not to be carried off by a disease that could be prevented if people like you would wear masks and get vaccinated. Oh, and btw, there was a COVID outbreak at Mark Driscoll’s Circus of ‘Where’s Jesus?’ last December, but people keep lying to me about it.

Also, do the world a favor and never go to Japan. Mask-wearing, which was common before COVID, is now pretty close to universal. When you have 125 million people stuffed in a country the size of California, of course people are going to wear masks. If/when I go back to Japan, I’ll be wearing masks, because I’m not a “MUH FREEDUMBS” American who doesn’t give a damn about spreading disease.

    3. “He can’t learn from his mistakes? He can’t repent?”

I don’t know if he can or not, but he certainly hasn’t done either of those things. Unless you count learning to not have elders in his church as “learning from his mistakes”.

      1. How can you “learn from your mistakes” WHEN YOU NEVER MAKE A SINGLE MISTAKE?

      2. How can you “learn from your mistakes” WHEN YOU NEVER MAKE A SINGLE MISTAKE?

        1. I go to Driscoll’s church. He talks about his mistakes frequently. I am not saying that he talks about these situations specifically, but he is very clear about his shortcomings.

          1. He once made a mistake and had elders. He corrected that in this church and isn’t accountable to them.

    4. The only thing he appears to have learned is how to better get away with his bad behavior, i.e. no accountability. In what other way have you seen that he has “learned from his mistakes?”

      1. If accountability was actually happening there, Driscoll would step down from leadership and we’d be hearing all about Trinity Church’s detailed and transparent plan toward healing and accountability and structures in place so the Driscolls of the world can never harm again. But nope, none of this is happening.

  6. Pro tip – save $50 and just put the theme song of “Two and a Half Men” on loop for however long the conference is supposed to last.

  7. Too bad Driscoll won’t be there in person. THAT might have been worth the $50 to get a chance to ask him questions face-to-face 🙂

  8. I might pay $5 just to satisfy my curiosity on the matter of the promised “manly fun” – oh, and enjoy some lunch and dinner! Then again …

  9. And pro tips to get an underling to terrorize a 15 year-old kid for doing what teenagers do instead of being a coward. Talking to the kid and his parents face-to-face along with your wife and daughter: What a real man would have done. I suppose using the underling was mercy so one doesn’t go all “Nehemiah” on a boy who dare to share a kiss.

    1. Driscoll, the unrepentant fraud and serial abuser, can only thrive in authoritarian Evangelical circles—far removed from adult maturity, rational thought, and ethical practice.
