Gospel for Asia Issues Takedown Notice for Video of K.P. Yohannan and Francis Chan

I was informed by YouTube on August 31 that Gospel for Asia issued a takedown notice to my YouTube account for a video clip of K.P. Yohannan and Francis Chan discussing Believers’ Church.

Due to a copyright takedown notice that we received, we had to take down your video from YouTube:

Video title: K.P. Yohannan and Francis Chan discuss Believers Church customs
Video url: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVbGMDcP1Sw
Takedown issued by: Gospel for Asia

That seems odd since the clip was K.P. Yohannan and Francis Chan talking. However, maybe they didn’t want to make it easy for readers to see just the part where they discuss Believers’ Church customs. Well, readers are resourceful, they can still find out things from this post:

Some Questions for Francis Chan, K.P. Yohannan, & Gospel for Asia about Believers Church and Ring Kissing

In that post, I showed this picture and asked why K.P. Yohannan said that people didn’t kiss his ring when it sure seems like that is what is happening in this picture.

And then even though I don’t have the video clip posted on my YouTube account any more, K.P. Yohannan has it posted on YouTube and I can embed it at just the location in the video where Francis Chan asks him about people kissing his ring. Watch:

Now you could watch the whole rest of the video or stop at about 8:50 if you want to just get the two claims I wrote about. In this video, K.P. Yohannan says there isn’t a ring kissing practice and he says he isn’t any more powerful than the other 30 bishops in Believers’ Church.

I invite you to click the link to the article below to see evidence counter to those claims.

Some Questions for Francis Chan, K.P. Yohannan, & Gospel for Asia about Believers Church and Ring Kissing

For the record, I believe my use was fair use but because Gospel for Asia seems to have a lot of money to spend on lawyers, I am concerned that they might sue me just for sport. And because GFA has the same material embedded at YouTube, you can still compare what the Metropolitan said to what the Constitution of his church says and what your own eyes tell you in this video.

  1. Is GFA sensoring the comments made on that video? I added a comment but it is no longer there.

    1. Yes, apparently so. Do me a favor. Leave another comment. Take a screen capture with it up and then we can show they are taking them down. Right now they are having board members comment.

  2. I got a copy of this video in the mail today. I used to support GFA, so I was curious to see how this suit came about.

I was very creeped out by the optics of this interview. KP used to be a solid Apostle to the people of Asia. I don’t know where he took a hard left into apostasy, but something is very wrong with his ministry now. Is that a rosary he is wearing around his neck? I think that KP has started his own brand of the Roman Catholic Church, eliminating only the concept of transubstantiation. In every other way, he looks and behaves like a pope in his new-found Church.

This is not the first time that I have seen a true follower of Jesus and a noted leader in the Christian Church fall away from the teachings of the Bible as he aged. We cannot dismiss all the good he has done in India for decades. But now he has gone the way of too many aging Christian leaders: he is a complete wacky-doddle. And we need to cover him with prayer and mercy. But I am not going to cover him with my money again.

  3. These two white-washed septic tanks are prime examples of evil masquerading as something else. Steal perhaps as much as a billion dollars over the whole world and many years, then pretend it did not happen. I currently see K.P. as a wicked man with what the world calls Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Chan quite clearly has M.P.D. which is another part of the evil triad of personality disorders. (Machiavellianism in psychology refers to a personality trait which sees a person so focused on their own interests they will manipulate, deceive, and exploit others to achieve their goals. Machiavellianism is one of the traits in what is called the ‘Dark Triad’, the other two being narcissism and psychopathy.)

  4. And K.P.Y’s “ordinary street clothes”…
All he needs to do is change the color from Saffron to Amaranth and wear a wide-brimmed hat with the correct amount of tassels and he’d be cosplaying an RCC Cardinal in full dress uniform.

  5. For the record, I believe my use was fair use but because Gospel for Asia seems to have a lot of money to spend on lawyers, I am concerned that they might sue me just for sport.

    JUST LIKE SCIENTOLOGY!

  6. Well, by embedding the “official” videos, as presented on Yohanan’s / Belivers’ Chuch’s own YouTube channel, you are increasing the viewership of that channel, which (from their perspective) is better than any presentation of their channel content via other URLs that they don’t control.

As for whatever is going on in the last clip, it certainly does seem as though “ring kissing” would be the most plausible description for what goes on just before each person stands to leave, but there’s room for alternative descriptions — they might be rubbing their noses on KP’s thumb, or licking the palm of his hand, or biting his pinkie, or… there’s really no way to be sure.
