To be consistent, I would say that a same-sex couple married in a Christian church would view monogamy as their ethic. Denominations are nearing schism over such issues as you probably know.

Warren -
If you believe "a Christian sexual ethic limits sexual behavior to monogamous heterosexual marriage. I don’t see being attracted as a sin,..." Then, do you believe in same-sex relationships being productive if the parties are allowed to marry - or if they are married (under canadian law, their church, etc..)?

It would seem to me that if they are following their faith (reconstructionist Methodist, etc..) which interprets the Bible differently under their Christian faith, then a married same-sex couple would simply have to follow the same Christian ethics regarding sexual behavior as anyone else.

How do you view this?

Sarah - I believe one must distinguish between inclinations and attractions and behaviors. I believe a Christian sexual ethic limits sexual behavior to monogamous heterosexual marriage. I don't see being attracted as a sin, any more than being attracted to do anything that would miss the mark.

To Robbi Kenney: Is it true that you once cautioned "ex-gay" ministries: "Know what you are offering. ... You are NOT offering heterosexuality... [but] the power to come into celibacy." You are often quoted as saying this.

If it is true, it sounds similar to Dr. Throckmorton announcement that his "current work does not emphasize changing sexual orientation as much as it does achieving congruence with chosen beliefs and values (which may or may not lead to change of attractions). I do not want to misquote what Robbi reportedly said years ago.

"Perhaps 'I Still Believe Others May Exist' is available."

Priceless.

I'm in Australia, I just find the whole American Pharisee Right sub-culture fascinating....completely oblivious to its own haughty abomination of pride (proverbs 16:5) and failing to understand how it's setting up its own judgement before God (Romans 2).

Noe says on his site that he does not regret what he said and he still believes in change. I don’t see what Noe wrote as being a reason to retire the video.

Perhaps not. However it might be a good reason to change the title. Perhaps I Still Believe Others May Exist is available.

Dear Dr. Throckmorton,

I think the I Do Exist Video should be shown
in parts on YouTube.com I found you're site and
video on YouTube and did not even know that change
was possible. Please prayerfuly consider doing some
sort of outreach minstry using this new tool. You have
no idea how this 5 minute video has impacted my life.

Also I think the video by Presbyterians for Renewal and OnebyOne should also be put on Youtube and any other quality video.link:

http://www.speakingamystery.com/trailer.html

Young people see Youtube alot and that in itself
can be a ministry.I think that some one should
consider doing this.

Dr. T: "My current work does not emphasize changing sexual orientation as much as it does achieving congruence with chosen beliefs and values (which may or may not lead to change of attractions)."

Now if only EXODUS and NARTH would adopt a similar honest and realistic approach. I have enver objected to helping people live more loving, responsible, congruent and value-driven lives. That's a worthy and "do-able" goal. And if, in the process of growing up, they discover some attractions they didn't recognize before, that's certainly OK with me.
